Yo J"; I'm going though the same thing as we speak with my male uni(8.5&some change under 9'), this occured trying to get under doors and escaping from my enclosure and the previous owner's also. This time it's taking a little longer to heal since he reopened the scab moving the futon matress.I applied iodine and aloe from the plant itself. It seems to be healing fine, but he's super active when out the enclosure, well you understand. But try iodine and aloe, it should work fine. He's also scabbing o.k. in the exact removal spots on your cribos head too.

yeah, looks like an old attempted escape wound. nothing serious, it'll shed away by itself in no time. looks like it's healing nicely as is. good luck.........dannio

The scales involved are the internasals, prefrontals, frontal. If I were you, I'd go to the vet and get some SSD Ointment (1% Silver Sulfadiazine Cream). Put that on once a day until he sheds a couple of times. You should see him shedding at an accellerated rate trying to heal that. It should be OK after a few sheds.

I have a large male Texas Indigo that was missing the nasals, internasals , parts of the prefrontals and a couple of superlabials when I got him. It was through no fault of the person I acquired him from because he was in the same condition when he aquired him. Apparently the owner before him kept him in a cage that was too small and had too much wire mesh or something. At any rate, I started using SSD on him daily until he shed twice. It helped him form some granulated type scar tissue and now, every time he sheds, he seems to get a little more scalation back. I also put him in a large cage (6ft x 2ft x 2ft) with plenty of hiding options and he doesn't seem to feel the need to rub his nose any more. When I first got him, he would bleed profusely for about 3 days after every time he shed, but now that's gone. He absolutely hated the routine every morning and was hatching a plan to kill me while I was treating him. He was pretty sure that if he could get me down on the floor, he could chew my head off...if that didn't work he had an alternate plan to drown me in his water bowl. Now that his nose is getting better, he has forgiven me and he only wants to chew one of my fingers off.

thanks for the info guys, oldherper im laughin my @$$ off at your indigos assasination plots. they do hate any sort of fuss made over them. the wound seems to be healing up very quick, its only 4 days old and its got light scabbing and alot of the color has returned, i too believe that hell be back in tip top shape after a few sheds, as long as i can keep him in an enclosure, when my new cages are done i think hell be more inclined to stay in, he will be in a 5'x3x3' with climbing options and a basking ledge, a style of cage that my black tails seem to enjoy. he's probably hoping to get out and find a few unicolor babes... he must be thinking the same thing i am that there arent any more..hehe. thanks again guys

Hey, that is nothing compared to the mess my new w/c Unicolor came in with. He was minus scales and raw on the entire front of his face back to his eyes! After two months there are still white areas but they are disappearing and the scales (and color) are coming back. The good news is...If they are healthy, they heal faster than ANYTHING I've seen! If you want to help it try dabbing some Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic. Both are great for wounds.

for this type of injury is a bigger cage.

Go ahead and give it one or two treatments with triple antibiotic, silvadine, chlorhexidine, iodine, or peroxide or whatever you like. If the guy isn't rubbing it raw, and there isn't obvious signs of infection, you're probably in the clear already.

The big cage is the secret to happy dry's.

Just my thoughts.
