Anyone out there using the "Can O Crickets"/worms etc?

Do Leos go for them?

i tried can-o-crickets...

my leo didn't go for them, probably because they don't move. also, they get moldy after a couple days, even with the lid on. if you refrigerate it, it'll last for a couple more days before molding... i don't think they'll last longer than a week after you open the can. i got the can for free from the guy that gave me his leo (well, my leo now..) for free. he left it unopened and brand new coz he fed live crix. i even put some of those can-o-crix in with the live mealworms... my leo ended up sorting and eating all the mealies and leaving all the dried-crix behind

My piggy leos that eat just about anything do eat the can o products but i have to put them in with live food so they move. I wouldn't recommend them however since they also don't allow your leopard to exercise and catch its food. Just a thought!
Good luck!

My leopard geckos looooove them! They reek to high heaven but they smell real tasty to leos. I dont even have to use tweezers or wiggle them, i just set the can-o-cricket on the floor in front of the gecko and mine will smell it, lick it a few times, then just daintily pick them up and eat them.

I would not recommend them as a staple, though. Theres no telling if the crickets or mealworms were gutloaded properly or not, plus they lose some nutritional value since they are dead (or so ive been told.) If your leos will eat them they are fine as a treat, but make sure you feed them mainly well gutloaded live insects. and yes, as was said, they do get moldy kinda quick, even in the fridge. make sure to keep the plastic lid on them.

hehe i guess it all comes back toward the different personalities, likes, and dislikes that our leos all have my leo likes more live foods than anything that doesn't move.

also, since we're talking about can-o-crickets, how are the flukers freeze-dried crix & mealies? i know they lost nutritional value and can be used as treats (my leo probably refuse it anyway), but are they safe? some people posted months back about having problems with flukers' freeze-dried foods. i forgot what it was...

if anyone knows, i'd like to remember! help me!! :x

Lol, yeah. all leos are so different My geckos are just pigs, they dont care what it is, if i give it to them, its food, and thats all they care about, hehe.

I tried those flukers freeze dried mealworms. My biggest pig, Oasis, refused to try them, and so did my other ones. i was surprised since they hardley ever refuse food from my tweezers. I'm not sure about the thing you heard about them not being safe though, sorry! Hopefully someone else knows!
