My beardie is acting funny.... I think he is sick?

crystalm Jun 02, 2003 06:28 PM

I have hadmy beardie for 3 yrs. When I purchased him, he was 2. I just recently moved to Florida, and within the past two days my beardie has changed. He isn't as active as he has been, and he isn't eating as he has in the past.
I have calci-sand in his aquarium and keep freshwater in there for him, but he appears to be losing weight and is just kinda there if ya know what I mean.
I don't know if I should take him to the vet, and if I should, I wouldn't know where to take him here, I just moved here two weeks ago.
Is it possible that maybe he just ate too muchover the weekend? Oh yeah, I tried putting some more crickets in his cage, an hour later I looked in to check on him, he was in the same spot, and all of the crickets were dead. I have never had this happen before. I don't know what to do. Anybody have any ideas???

1/2 hour and the crickets were dead is strange...... sorry never heard of that or anything in a tank that would cause this. have you cleaned with any cleaners that may have lingering fumes?

I would get rid of the calci-sand anyway, no matter what, washed playsand is safer for them

Where in Florida are you, I am also in Florida and we know several reptile vets in several counties here.

This doesnt relate to her post, but I am in Orlando and I need to find a good reptile vet. Do you know of one in the Orlando(orange county) area.

Thanks,

Having all those dead crickets is very suspicious. I would look around now and see if there is anything toxic in your room that might be causing such a thing.
