I have two cerastes and they both are getting ready to shed. I looked at their tails today and noticed that right at the base of the rattles their tails are all fat. It kind of looks like a blister or abcess but I am sure it is not. I am pretty sure that it is just the new rattle getting ready to come in but I wanted to make sure. I tried to take a few pics but none would show how they really look. Is this what happens when they get new rattles. The snakes are only about the size of a 50 cent piece coiled up and they only have one acuall rattle, this will be thier second. I am wondering because the other rattle snake species I have kept never looked like that before they shed. All feed back is appriciated.
Thanks,
