Boa Importing

triniian Dec 09, 2003 04:11 PM

Does anyone know the stand protocol for importing Boas into the US? My Location is New Orleans, Louisiana. No State Laws on Boas. I just want to know what it takes to bring them into the US only...

As far as I have found, Boa Constrictor Constrictor and Imperator are not on any endangered lists or CITES.

I'm guessing I still need a permit from the US Wildlife and Fisheries Dept.

Anyone who knows exactly the steps please advise.

Thanks.

All boas are on CITIES.
Argentines are appendix I which is no import at all.
No need to import anyways! they are everywhere.
You need to get an import export license and have the shipment come in at a designate3d port of entry. That port of entry for you would be dallas texas or Miami Florida.
Once here it will be inspected to make sure what you are importing is whats in the boxes and that the paperwork is straight.
then you will have to have your broker delta it to you or by other airlines, you cannot import directly into louisiana.

So let me get this straight:

Theoretically I would need a CITES certificate/registration?
Second, which form would I fill with with US Wildlife and Fisheries - they have dozens it seems.

Here's an example of the situation that I would be trying to accomplish:

I travel to Latin America and accquire a boa or two or so. Pending legality to export how would I get them in to the US legally. I'm not trying to break laws and want to know if it is possible.
