Breeding ?

jdouglas Dec 09, 2003 08:33 PM

I was wondering if some of you other breeders are seperating your males and females weekly and reintroducing them or if you are leaving them together all the time during the breeding season. What has worked best for you in previous years and how many days do you leave them together and and then apart before reintroduction?

Thanks,
Jaremy

I usually leave them together at least a week of until I see them not paying much attention to each other. I then separate them for a few days maybe offer food to the female then reintroduce the male to the female at dusk/night time. Alot of times I will see activity pretty much right away and I start the same routine all over again until the female shows signs of being gravid. Hope this is useful. It has worked for me for the last two years with the carpets.

What ssp of carpet are those girls (your daughters?) holding?

She was a Diamond x Jungle cross that was supposed to be from Casey Lasik lines. She had a really weird zig zag pattern on her. She produced eggs for me two years ago along with my other female cross. I sold her Just before last season along with a breeder male to make some room for the retics that I wanted to get. When I see pictures of animals I've decided to part with it always makes me regret it but that's part of the deal if you want to keep your collection under control (or I would have no time for the wife and 4 human critters I have). Why do you like her pattern or just wondering Jim? Here's another shot of her.

She looked to be a cross, but I have seen that zig-zag back pattern on some jungles so could really tell. Thanks for the info.
