John, I figured out what is stressing my gravid female!

Anson Dec 09, 2003 08:35 PM

My big fat head! I keep rummaging through the leaves looking for her and scaring the heck out of her.
I went in today and slowly snuck a peak in the bushes and she was in there nice and peach and the second she saw me she turned balck and threatened me with an open mouth!
Poor baby, I need to get a life and leave her the heck alone!
I am so worried about her that I am hovering. I guess it's because she was so friendly before and would come out to eat when she saw me, that the drastic change in personality scared me! She has never stayed hidden in the branches before.

Sonia-

Sounds like you found the problem. How do you have her cage set up? Is there just live plants or do you also have some bio vines and or large branches in the top of the cage. My girls have a combo of both and will bask and walk around on the vines/branches during the day then hide in the plants as it gets close to lights out. She should not stay hidden during the day. Is she eating more then normal? My girls pig out for the first 2-4 weeks then slow there food intake way down. Hope this helps!

She does come out to the branches but hides in the plants if anyone walks in. She was not like that before.
She is pigging out every other day and eating normal in between so her food intake is up about 25-50% more than normal.
