Should i change to Mercury Vapour ?

BORG Jun 02, 2003 07:05 PM

I was just wondering if any experienced herpers are using mercury vapour? I have read alot about them and I am still not to sure if it is worth it or if there is enough research(melisa kaplan) about prolonged exposure to that much UVB and levels of UVB needed

I would feel alot better if I heard from anyone who was using them with or without sucsess

Thanks in advance,
Borg

I think they are great, I can really see the difference in my dragons since I started using them. Melissa Kaplan's site is out of date, it does not cover any of the current UVB bulbs on the market. The bulbs still only produce a fraction of the UVB that the sun produces, and there is no way to overdose on UVB. Humans can get skin cancer from it, but you are much more likely to get it from the sun than from a bulb.

Thanks dsgn Grl what you say makes a lot of sense the reason why i want to switch is because i am skeptikal about how much UVB a 30 or 40 watt flouresent or any 30 or 40 watt bulb could produce
