asucker Dec 09, 2003 09:55 PM

one of my friend down in maimi found a 4 foot long black throat in his dumpster, he said that the black throat was so cold and hungry that it barly moved and only the eyes were blinking, he ask me if he should keep it, or is it to dangerous to keep it, since he knows little about it beside it was found in his dumpster, and he's not going to waste 65 dollar on a vet visit, the black throat are now warmed up and moving around in his 27 inch tv box, he put the box by an heater to keep it warm but dont know if he should risk keeping it or take it to the vet and ask me, if anyone have any tip on this case please tell me so i can help a friend out. he'll take some picture of it, he described it as a freaking skeleton with a hard lair of skin covering it, it's not eating the frozen rat he got at the store. thanx.

If your friend isnt willing to cough up the dough for the proper treatment of this animal, then he should surrender it to people who will. He should get in contact with a local reptile rescue group pronto. This is a life were talking about here.

Hi, my friend he's got some buisness to do and he's was book to fly over in my state to do his buisness and going to drop off the black throat, i'll bring it to the vet on my expense, but i know that i cant provide a good home for it, if anyone interest in a black throat, then just send me for the shipping cost and it's yours, i'll keep it to see how it's doing i'll make it put on a couple of pound and be fat, i'll try to get it healthy.....thanx you all.

Sounds like this monitor would be better off being with someone who can provide the proper environment, housing and diet for this animal. But, your friend should be highly commended for saving this animal so this is not meant to be critical in the least. Perhaps a local herp society has an adoptions program whereby someone can give him a good home. Or, if you friend wants to do it right, purchase an appropriate enclosure and get the animals to a good reptile vet for a thorough check up.
