Question about nile monitors

ziggythenile Dec 09, 2003 10:13 PM

My nile is large enough to enjoy my apartment and not be confined to an enclosure. My girlfriend has a cat however and I am worried that he will eat it (hahahahaha) anyone have any experience with this or know of any funny stories. My gut tells me he will.

Hi Ratzu,
I misunderstood andrew's post heading "ahh crap part 10" completely: I thought that was what he doing and his I.Q. was 10?? Ooops, my bag....

Hahahaha
Hi Mark. Actually I dont think he was suppose to come out with part 10 yet, as he still hasn't made part 2.

I know a fellow that has 6 foot V. juxtindicus that used to chase his cat, and actually spit water at it several feet away when it came near; I know another fellow on Staten Island, N.Y. whose cat used to sleep with his savannah monitor side-by-side; and my own 6'2" female V. albigularis used to chase the cats out of my yard, watch airplanes and birds overhead...

If a V. niloticus catches your cat, it will hurt it. There is 1 report on V. griseus having dined on a litter of kittens in N. Africa ~1900's....and V. salvator doing same in Malaysia, including a human baby (1966).

cheers,
mbayless
