has anyone bred bosc`s?

chameleon2005 Dec 10, 2003 07:31 AM

Hey guys

My Sav is now about 2 ft STL and about 8 months old, doing very well. My friend has a 3.5 foot STL rescued male Sav. I am certain that mine is a female but I know it is too young to be sure!

My question is this, if they are a pair, how would we go about breeding them? I know that mine is far too small/young at the moment and it is realisticly a good couple of years away anyway.

Just trying to do a little homework!

I`ve noticed that you lot have had good success with other species of monitors, any advice will be helpful

Him and Daniel Bennett wrote a book about them. Best book on captive care of any monitor species.

"I am certain that mine is a female but I know it is too young to be sure!"

If it is too young to be sure, how exactly can you be certain it is a female?

Definitely a contradiction of terms.

mine is a young guy, and he supposedly came from a guys friend who had a pair of adults. said he had the problem of the female eating eggs immediatly after laying. mine and 1 other hatched from this particular litter.
now, do i believe that? honestly, from what ive read here, its very unlikely. not impossible, but it does seem that if it were true, at least someone here would know of a guy in georgia having luck breeding boscs. i would love to try and breed mine, but it would be hard to sell any young, when there are tons of cheap imported boscs coming in every day. however, i encourage anyone who has the means to do so to try. good luck and post some pictures of your monitor.
