Weldbond and water feature

nasr_36 Dec 10, 2003 10:31 AM

Hey, so im done the background. Its a peat/dirt/sphagnum/cork/weldbond (etc) mix. Though im planning to have a waterfall down the back.

Im just afraid the weldbond GLUE would be harmful in a way, as it might oversaturate and leak or break up. Is there any danger in weldbond supporting the waterfeature in any way? Im not using a false bottom in this tank.

Thanks,
M.N

Weldbond should remain nontoxic and support a water feature. Make sure you let the weldbond fully dry (at least a week). And once you get the tank up and running do a few water changes to rid any particles which can cloud the water. I’ve had weldbond structures completely submerged and they seem to hold up fine. If you need more advice you might want to contact Mark Pepper at Understory, he has a ton of weldbond experience.

I too have water constantly running over a Weldbond background.
