1 = Anolis carolinensis "green anole";
2 = Anolis carolinensis;
3 = Anolis distichus ssp. (for ssp. determination I need to know were exactly the photo as taken);
4 = probably an juvenile species of the photo after it;
5 = looks like Anolis whitemanni (were has the photo been taken. This also for ssp. determination);
6 = Anolis c. conspersus.

Do you have more Anolis photo's of this trip?

3 = Anolis distichus ssp I found this guy at Labadee, Hispaniola
4 and 5 I believe are the same species and were also found at Labadee, Hispaniola. I was on a Caribbean Cruise with my family but just had to poke around whenever possible for herps. Had I known of the great diversity of anoles that there are I may have put out a greater effort to find more.

Just this one of a brown anole soaking up the afternoon sun. I might have others but I am not sure if they are worthy posting.

Thanks for the identification help.

Regards,

Brad Alexander

P.S. come to think of it, I may have a picture of a drab looking anole from Jamaica. I'll look through my pictures and see what I have.

Sorry that it have taken so lang before I could answer. Otherwise you may contact me at my YannHorstink@hotmail.com e-mailadres.

But:

nr. 3 then should be Anolis distichus dominicensis (the most widespread distichus ssp.).
nr. 4 & 5 probably should be, as far my literature tels (up-to-date till 2000 on this species) Anolis whitmanni from the jet unnamed population (only three ssp. are reconized right now, this should be nr. 4).

If you have more photo's I could undentify just show them.

Nice pics! I have a Bark anole in my backyard very like that one, bluish-green on one end and grey at the other.

And lucky you to go to the Caiman Islands... I can't tell you how much I want to go!
