Is it okay to feed them all the time, or should you just feed them sometimes like you do wax worms???

They're my girls staple. Though variety is good, they are very high in protein, not much fat dont think and they put good weight on leos. Also fairly cheap, and only need 4 or 5 to fill a gecko up. The only bad thing ive heard is that they're hard to breed, but i just buy like 12 for 2.00 at the pet store and that lasts around 3-4 days.

I feed my adult leos a staple of superworms. They are very nutritous and my adults love them. My gravid female hasnt lost any weight while laying and I think it is because she is eating 10 supers every night or every other night. They are much better than mealworms, becuase they fill the leos up faster.

I've found they do put good weight on leos. My female also hasnt lost any weight and shes on her 5th clutch now. Wow thats pretty cool though 10 a night?! My girl eats about 4 or 5 a day now.

Yea, sometimes she skips a couple of days, but I try to feed her as much as possible. My female is on her 4th clutch right now. I cant wait until my bell albino female is ready, she is at 40 grams right now. She wont take supers though so I am feeding her a bunch of mealies. She eats them by the mouthful...lol.

Ive seen your bell and shes very nice...what are planning on breeding her to?

Josh06 Jun 02, 2003 09:06 PM

I am looking for a stripe male to breed with her. But if I cant find one that's ready to breed by the time that she is ready, I will breed her to my hypo tang. carrottail. Either way, I should get some nice babies, but I really want a striped bell.

I have just begun feeding my Leo's and Fat Tails superworms a couple weeks ago. They absolutely love them. I find that since I have been feeding them superworms, my geckos have been eating more. Also, the supers move around a lot more than mealies, which stimulates the geckos to eat them more. I have also noticed that the supers eat more thamselves which means they are passing on more nutrition to the geckos.

Thanks

I just bought some this evening and trying them. Hoping they will take them. I really like the idea of not having to get a load of meal worms out. They are a little feisty though aren't they?

My giant just gobled up his first!!!! He looks very happy!

I've fed my guys supers before and always thought they were the same as kings. this thread has made me kinda curious though.

Josh06 Jun 03, 2003 07:48 PM

King Mealworms are mealworms that have been steroid induced to make them larger, it isnt known if these are safe or not for leos. Kings have more chitin and supers are more nutritous.
