Does anyone bathe their RES and a quick question about shedding?

CluetheCanadian Dec 10, 2003 03:36 PM

I read in one of my Res books that every once and awhile you should give your RES a scrub down. Does anyone do this and if so can anyone recommend the best way? I have used a sponge and a baby tooth brush as the book indicated.
Also if they are starting to shed, should you assist by pulling it off when its barely hanging or let nature take its course.
Many thanksfor any help.

i clean my turtles in a tub of 80deg wtr with dish soap & a toothbrush.only a couple times a year.loose scutes i leave on unless they are literally falling off, kinda like a loose tooth.it'll get there on its own if you let it.

Usually about once a month, I give all my turtles a scrub down with a childs toothbrush, and I also soak them in a saltwater bath about every 2 months. As for the person using dish soap, I have not heard of that one. For the scutes falling off, I usually leave them alone, unless they fall off during the scrub down.
