I was thinking about getting another pet.I wanted to get something that can be housed in a 20 gallon tank ( not a snake )
is active and can be handled.Any ideas?( also something that doesnt eat loads of crickets)

You might want to try giving Crested geckos a shot. As per your requirements, the only one they don't meet is being active (during the day). They are very active at night. With the new Sandfire Super Foods diet you can eliminate crickets completely for this species.
I second that on cresteds. You could keep two in a 20 gallon. They are very handlable, and while they can be fed crickets, as was said you can also feed them the Crested Gecko Diet as well as baby food instead of crickets. And they only need temps of 72-80, so usually room temp is fine, with no additional heat source.
