Hey all,
First time poster here. I was just wondering what the best food would be to feed a leopard gecko. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks
Leos can be fed a staple of either crix, mealies, superworms, or silkworms. Crix chirp so I dont use them much. Silkworms are pretty expensive compared to the others so I dont use those. Mealies or supers I find are the easiest to care for aswell and I'd recomend one of those for a staple. You can also feed wwaxworms, but not too many too often or they're refuse other food since they usually like those alot. Pinkies can be fed but some wont take em. Also you have to make sure they're big enough. Hope this helps.

definately crickets but if your gecko gets to skinny then u could feed it a SMALL pinky
crickets, mealworms, and superworms are really good staple diets. i also don't use crickets too much coz they chirp during the night and i get pissed coz i can't sleep... lol. i started breeding mealworms because they're the easiest to take care of, breed, and feed (for me, personally).
when it comes to treats, you can give ONE wax worm ONCE a week. i give mine one every saturday. try not to feed more than that because wax worms are highly addictive and will cause your leo to refuse other foods. it'll be hard to get them back to healthy food. pinky mice should be given to adults once a month (pregnant leos or leos that just gave birth can have 2 a month i believe... not really positive on this one - so someone correct me if i'm wrong
). but, the pinky mice do come with risks. i've heard that there's a higher chance for parasites in your leo.. so be careful who and where you get them from.
people told me the healthiest food you can give your leo are silk worms. these are a bit more expensive than other leo foods. i was also told that, because they are so healthy, some leos won't really like them. also, they morph into moths faster than other worms.
as long as you gutload your staple feeders (crix, mealies, or supers) well, then you might not even have to give a treat of a wax worm - just because the feeders you give will be nutritious enough that your leo's tail can get fat
take care and good luck
if you have questions on gutloading, you know where to go!
