My old male Brazilian rainbow boa died two days ago. I only ever had two of this species, but after he killed his prospective mate (a post about that here), I didn’t replace her. Outside of that major mistake of his, he was a gentle, easy-going animal who was very easy to maintain over the years. Within the past year, bony spinal overgrowths were beginning to paralyze him and I knew I’d have to euthanize him soon, but he died before I did so. I’m hoping the necropsy and histopathology will reveal more. But considering he lived 22 years, I have no regrets.
