Gecko pooped on me

ew1074 Dec 10, 2003 07:44 PM

Has anybody else's gecko ever pooped on them? She was sitting on my leg. I though something was up cause she never sits still. So i lifted her up and she had pooped on me. lol I think she had only pooped about halfway. Maybe i scared the crap out of her. Heh. Any suggestions as to why she would do this??

At least lizard poop is fairly dry compared to bird feces...yeah...my cockateil decided to give me a little present as well!

She was our first female and laid an egg within a day or two of bringing her home my wife had the gecko in her hand and thought she peed on her. When I picked her up there was a beautiful white egg in my wife's hand. It was awesome, but a little shocking to say the least. At the time, there was little info around on leopard geckos, so we didn't know if this was the norm or not. I'm not positive if that egg hatched or not, but we still have the female gecko. She'll always be one of our favorites; definitely a keeper.

This is her on the left in the hidebox.

Ya i've been.......well no, i haven't been pooped on, more like peed on. During a family get together my aunt asked to see one of my geckos. Boo being the largest and easiest to handle was brought up. My aunt called over my uncle to see and my uncle took one look at him and screamed and ran away while Boo peeed in my hands. I think my aunt knew that was going to be my uncles reaction......nasty woman she is LOL. This was a result of fear i'm sure.......

Oh.....Boo has been out before and never done that before.

That's a great story and I could picture it happening. Reminded me of the day my mother discovered my brother's ratsicles in the freezer, nicely wrapped in foil with the tail hanging out.

It's only my adults who've tried to poop on me while I gave them their medicine. They usually miss--either they poop right after I put them down, or the poop falls right onto the paper towel. Only once did the poop get in my hand, and that's because he was squirming and had diarrhea.

You can almost sort of tell when they're about to shoot though. One time, I saw a little drop of urate coming out of my leo's vent, and then she sort of hunched over just a tad. I already had her repositioned with her butt hanging out of my hand by the time she pooped, so none of it got on me. I sort of have a sense for these things, I guess. You don't know how many bird droppings I've avoided. lol
