Leo has hardly eaten in ~5 months, yet hasn't really lost weight.

I have a leo that's about three years old. He had a run in with a cat that lead to the loss of an eye, but otherwise he has been fine.

This winter he stopped eating. He didn't eat anything for three or four weeks, and then only ate a few meal worms (normal size ones). Since then, he's only eaten a few meal worms every few weeks. I'd say that in the last 4 or 5 months he's only eaten about 15 meal worms, or so. The only thing keeping me from finding a vet (I don't know if there is one around here) is that he hasn't lost any weight. He still looks fairly healthy, is ~8 inches long and doesn't seem lethargic (he makes his rounds around his tank and if I handle him, he walks around curiously). The floor temp of his hide seems to be about 33C and the ambient air temp around 30. He is using a towel (as in for the bathroom) as a substrate.

What would everyone recommend? Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior? He won't eat crickets (he started with them, but once he had a taste of meal worms he wouldn't eat crickets).

Thanks everyone,
Mathew Johnston

are you breeding him? alot of males will go "off food" during breeding season that is why for big name breeders they usually keep 2 males for each morph they are trying to breed for 1 as a backup. If so i would suggest removing him from the female(s) and putting him in his own tank. If he isn't breeding, What does his stool look like, is it runny or firm, is it green. He could have gotten parasites and that is why he is not eating but it doesn't sound like it cuz he hasn't lost any weight which is a very good sign. Probably just isn't hungry haha. Post back with answers to these questions and i can help you out somemore.
Good luck.

Nope, he's a lone lizard. No other lizards around.

Well, given that he hasn't eaten anything, his stools tend to be small and semi-watery, being mostly the "white stuff". After he does eat, they tend to be pretty normal, as far as I recall (it's been a while).

I'm thinking that I'll contact a vet around here regardless - the only problem with getting a stool sample is that since he's not eating, I don't know when he'll poop.
