constipated panther

travman Dec 10, 2003 11:27 PM

I have a female panther chameleon who seems to be constipated. She still eats, but has not gone in days. Is there a way to tell if she is constipated, and is there anything i can do?

A couple of ideas. First, give her more water and raise the humidity in her cage. Don't feed her as you'll just add to the problem. Hungry chams move around more which will help. I find that sometimes a cham who is sluggish will perk up and get stimulated from full sunlight, either through a very bright window or outdoors in a temp cage. The added excitement stress often triggers them to poop. You can also give her a warm bath. Soak her in warm belly deep water in the sink. Again, the warmth helps, but the stress of a weird new situation often helps too.
