restless milk

I have a honduran, tangerine dream. He's 5 months old and the length of my forearm. I have him in a 10 gallon tank with a couple of hidies and reptile bark for substrate. Last night, and I suppose he's been doing this, he was trying to get out. He gets along the top edge and crawls along looking for a way out. Should I put him in a bigger enclosure now? I have a 20 gallon long. I was just wondering what others thought....

Go for it! Though If I were put in ANY size cage, I would still try to get out. This is a case where bigger is indeed better.lol.Good luck and happy herpin-Smokey

my california king does the same thing, but i don't think he's really trying to escape anymore. when i first got him he was searching the cage and running along the top rim of the tank and pushing on the lid etc. now he's about the calmest snake i've ever seen and still goes on the rim but never pushes on the lid. i really think he just likes that spot as a hide. i consider it a plus just because i have another king that just hides the entire day, comes out in the evening for about and hour, and then hides again. i'll take and active and curious snake any day.

I have a 4-year old Sinaloan who did the same thing earlier this week. His motive was to escape as this was how he got out a couple of weeks ago when I had accidently left one of the clips off. I found him on the top shelf of my closet. Seems like milksnakes are escape artists, regardless of the tank size their housed in. I have a 5-month old Nelson's who's only about 11" long--very small. I've noticed her testing every corner of the tank for escape possibilities and she's housed in a 20-gallon long.
