first off why do ppl mark they're beardies with something, is it to indentify who is who or what and second i sum1 came into my petsmart yesterday who has 9 bearded dragons most of them purebreed (so i would think he knew what he was tlaking about) and he said that the reptiglo 8.0 (or any other flourescent for that matter) did not output any o crap can't remember if he said uva or uvb, but he said that it didn't output one of them, i'm just making sure i'm doing things right i have a 48" reptiglo 8.0 and just a normal spot bulb from home depot for my basking area, can someone confirm that this setup is ok?

Yes, we use markings so that we can list them with individual pictures and prices and know who is who when bought and ready to ship, etc.
Your lighting sounds good to me and a 8.0 bulb does give off UVB rays.
Word of caution..... just because someone "says" they own dragons and act as if they "know it all" doesn't mean that they actually do know it.
I have known many people who fit the following term perfectly.........

What did he mean by purebreed beardies? It's not like they normally breed with other lizards

8.0 bulbs do not put out UVA. I can't remeber if UVA is necassary but some people use spot bulbs that put out UVA. I personally don't use them now but have in the past and don't see any difference either way.
Maybe someone else can shed some light on that?

Every florescent tube that I have ever bought produced both UVB and UVA, although most people don't consider UVA to be too important, it does have some effect on the mood and coloration of reptiles. I sometimes use the UVA (full spectrum) basking bulbs, just because I like the color light that they put out.
