Aggressive Female RES?

ALOdem Dec 11, 2003 07:58 AM

My female has starting attacking my male and she has been biting his head and holding him down. I have seperated them for the time being, but was wondering if I need to get rid of one or if this will pass? I don't want to come home one day and find his head floating around!

Maybe you've had this answered by now. A female can be stressed by the persistance of a male. Females need a place to hide from males. Ratios of two females per male are better. If your female is being aggressive I wouldn't add another turtle though. Maybe just find a good home for one of them. RESs need lots of space too. Some turtles just don't tolerate close quarters with another. One turtle won't mind being the sole inhabitant.
