toe nails

I was just wondering if it is okay to cut my uro's nails or if I should. I have noticed in pictures that some uro's have shorter nails and Kashka's are pretty long and they are sharp. Just wondering...Thanks! ~Nikki~

I trim all my uros nails every once in awhile with little reptile clippers. They get darn sharp otherwise!! My uros also pretty much get a manicure since I actually file their nails once I trim them. They seem to enjoy it! But it makes it a lot smoother when they walk on my skin too!!

From what I've read, and generally have been following with satisfactory results, is to make sure they've got enough room to "roam" about, and have plenty of rocks (or similar surfaces) to keep them "self-trimmed." There's no one in the wild to trim them, so they should do ok by themselves given a suitable enviroment.

I found that as soon as I made them a new enclosure with wooden walls as opposed to glass the nails began to trim themselves even though they climb the walls a lot less now.

Trimming nails is fine, just be very careful how much you take off, and make sure you have a blood clotter around in case you take too much. The guys at the local pet store cut mine for me because I just couldn't bare to make them bleed like that. They have a special blood clotter product, but also said, i believe, that corn starch would also work.
