I for the idea of this rack from joel417 and thomas j so I credit them with the design. But I got it out of 1 sheet of melamine plus a 2'x2' piece for the top. Plans are available.

Thanks for looking,
Dennis

I think they make finishing edges for melamine if you wanted to put it along the edges on the front. Just a thought. Looks great though! how are you heating it?

I will be needing something similar for the housing of my baby pythons in the spring. Can you send the plans to be here - reptile@reptile-pit.com . Very nice indeed. I needed something simple.

Yeah, we sell the melamine edging at Lowe's where I work, it's an iron-on veneer. I am heating the rack with two strips of 3" flexwatt as soon as I get it installed. Here are the plans for it.

All in all the rack itself cost me $19.29 for the melamine and screws, the pegboard was free as it was scrap that a lady did not want. Workin in the lumber yard has its good points.

If you do not have access to a saw, Lowe's and Home Depot both have panel saws that are very accurate(as long as the person using it is competent) and usually charge only 25 cents per cut, I know we give 2 free to begin with. It does chip the edging a little, but it is very minor.

does it hold 32qt tubs? Is that sweater box or blanket box?
Also how are you running the tape and how is it wired?
Where do you get the extra piece of melamine for the top? Do you think it would be better to substitute the bottom shelf with an odball scrap and use the melamine for the top?

Thanks

The extra piece of melamine will be easy to find; Lowe's sells pieces in 2x2 and 2x4 pieces as well as full sheets. Just check where the shelving(finished, not pine board shelving) is located as that is where it is in the Lowe's I am employed at.
The flexwatt is going to be run down the back, taped to a pegboard sheet I am going to add as soon as I get it cut. It will be run by a dimmer and a thermostat.
The tubs are 32qt sterilite's that I got from Target. They measure 23 3/8"x15 5/8"x6".
