bad batch of frozen mice?

bradarmstrong Dec 11, 2003 01:35 PM

Last time I ordered frozen mice online, my snake refused to eat any of the 50 mice in the bag. This time I was going to get it from a different company, and beforehand I emailed them and asked if they had any kind of gurantee, so I dont waste 50$ again. He said that in the case where the snake wont eat the mouse its not the mouse but the preparation. But Ive been feeding frozen mice to my corns for years with no problems.

Anyone else ever had this problem?

that's odd that he said that. How do you thaw them? How many different ways are there? lol

I get my mice from Rodent Pro, and have never had any refusal other than the seasonal horny male, or maybe an in-shed baby. I also used Mice Direct one time, and those were good as well, but they don't have rats, so I go where I can get both in the same shipment.

Usually the only garauntee's are that they arrive frozen. Where did you get the frozen mice before ordering on line? Did you ever contact the company that you think sent a bad batch? I guess I've never heard of it, but it is odd that your snake refused the whole bag.

Also, I had a male Okeetee who just sort of decided he hated mice one day, so I switched him to rats and he's fed ravenously ever since.

I too have had that problem! BUT, I did my research and choose a reputable supplier based on forum discussions of this same issue and now I will only order from them (and they have a guarantee). Quality is far superior to ANY others I have gotten from, but its not to say that they're the only great company out there. Email me if you would like to know who. I posted once before about this company.

Also, i had the same problem with a batch of nasty mice got from a guy off the back of his truck at a reptile show. None of my snakes would eat them. I ended up tossing them since I believe they had zero nutritional value.
