OK, here's my NOIK(No One I Knew)-stock female albino Black rat. I just had to fix a computer/camera interface problem. Not my best shot but at least its current. She started out looking like she may turn a darker pink but, over the last several sheds, she lightened up a lot. The appearance of the one you got from Dwight rekindles my interest in the look.

in the past. I have looked at alot of albinos at the last few shows here in KY, but havent been able to find any that match mine. Just wondering if there may be something else going on with my snake, as it doesnt look like the average albino. Curious as to what his colors will do within the next few months, as he is almost 1.5 years old now.

I've never seen one look like that either. I'm confident there isn't any hybridizing or Dwight would have told you. It may have to do with the actual ground color of the parents. Whatever the cause, it looks great.

Hotshot Dec 12, 2003 08:49 PM

Oh I dont believe there is any hybridization either. Dwight has some killer looking animals and is always into something and is a very honest guy!!

I have pictures of the parents and the albino isnt anything spectacular. The normal het albino has some white speckling, but it looks like a pretty normal black rat. So I just wonder if there may be a hypo gene hidden in there some where? Or some other "cool" gene. Either way, I wouldnt mind breeding him within the next couple of years. I dont think he would be ready next year, but maybe the following year. Who knows, would be neat to see what kind of offspring he throws!

It'll be real interesting to see if that color holds. At this age, I'd bet there is a good chance it stays - at least to some degree. Either way, it sure indicates an interesting project.

I have one of Dwight's 02 hets to pair with that pink girl in the picture. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Who needs albinos with colors like this! Just kidding, actually I was going to post a bunch of albino pics but my modem is so screwy I cant upload anything without disconnecting, so you'll have to settle for a not so new pic.

I don't know if I've seen that pic but I sure remember that snake. I think I need a hypo to add to the mix down here.

Someone sent this glades to me as a normal, but several of us believe he's a hypo. He's not the male that I mentioned that has the attitude. He's a docile snake. He still musks you occasionally, but he'll stop. I was going to breed him to the female Marcia Lincoln, but I picked up another male that I've decided to breed her to.

Thanks for the comments everyone. This snake is actually not hypo, had him since he was about 3 weeks old he had a mate that was nearly as beautiful as him but she didnt make it through her first breeding I have another female that looks pretty good who should be ready to breed next year.
