i haven't felt compelled to write lately, just read. but i thought i ought to mention the small successes i've experienced. first of all, my tegus were having less than perfect sheds a while back. i switched the substrate to about 8 or so inches of a sand/vermiculite/topsoil mix, and they've been having much better sheds since then. also, they love being able to make awesome tunnel systems. they've got a nice little cave they hide out in, they really seem to benefit from this, although they are a bit harder to find nowadays. also, i started a small breeding colony of mice (not a great accomplishment, i know) that's doing real well and the tegus enjoy that, too. while they love tossing back mice, i've had trouble getting them to try fruit. they turned their noses up at everything, including kiwi. i even tried mixing it all with egg. they just licked the egg of. spoiled punks! but the other day i broke down and brought home some baby food, hoping i could use it as a foundation to get them interested in fruit. i gave them banana and they absolutely loved it. hopefully, this will lead to an expansion of their otherwise selective palates. i'd post pics but i'm just too busy (read LAZY) to set them up on a host and yadda yadda. well, that's all i have to say about that.

if nothing else, i at least amuse myself!
