Swimming in the Bathtub....

chargo Dec 11, 2003 03:53 PM

As some of you may know, I am Iguana sitting for a while
(and he might end up being mine...by the looks of things),
Anyways, I was wondering if it's a good idea to let an iguana
swim in the bathtub sometimes. Do any of you do this? How often?

Baths are good for humidity. You should be aware however that Iguanas tend to go to the bathroom in water so be ready to drain the tub disinfect and then put the ig back in.
Temp should not be cold or hot. keep it around a lukewarm bath temp. You wlll need to warm the water every now and then. The water should be no higher than the iguana's shoulders.
Some iguanas like baths and others believe you are trying to drown them. My ig, Kam, used to believe in the drowning theory but now she likes baths. Good Luck

It definitely is a good idea. I used to let my iguana hang out in the tub about 3 times a week. but lately i've been busy. i try to give her a bath at least once a week. If not, i have a spray bottle handy next to her cage and I spray her down everyday. she loves it.

p.s. It also helps to soak them in the tub when they're shedding.
