Hi Tyler,
thank you for your advice on the egg question, one more thing though..

You say leave the eggs alone, but will they be able to dig their way out of the dirt if they hatch? their burried about 5 inches deep.

any advice at this point will help, they've been in there for 8 months now...

thanks,

Greg, Montreal

In nature, they dig themselves out as a team from at least 5 inches deep.... It may help to soften up the dirt above them a bit to make it easier to move. I still don't know what to tell you to do with them... Leaving them there runs the risk that some of them can't make it out but digging them up runs the risk that you turn an egg and cause problems. Anyone else have any advice on it? I just thought it would be interesting to try but not sure I would do it. By this point, it's hard to say.

If your worried about them digging out and you know about how deep they are why dont you gently scrape the dirt off the top of them down to the eggs. this way they dont have far to dig. and please let us know what happens

the egg has an air pocket in which the baby need for breathing. Ive also read that this has not been confirmed to be fact. other sources say this air pocket is only critical the first several months.

when moving the egg you risk shifting the air pocket and suffocating the baby.

if you decide to remove them, id play it safe and keep the egg positioned the same way it came out.

in an event, it would be intersting to see how they dig themselves out
