Rollin....Why not the canned cat and dog food?

1tegufan Dec 11, 2003 06:26 PM

I used it regularly with my red. She ate a variety of other foods as well. I also incorporated processed baby food because my vet told me it would help with shedding issues. It had a higher amount of vitamin A and C. She ate mice, rats, an occasional gerbil. She ate fruits of various kinds. I am also following this with my present tegu. I saw your post on the cat and dog food and just wondered about it?? Thanks Sharon

for the most part dog/cat food is not very good to feed them. and should only be fed if you have nothing else. it has way too much salt, and in the long run can cause problems with the kidnyes :/

Dog and cat food also have a higher amount of Vitamin D3 to meet those species' needs. These amounts of D3 could prove harmful to your reptile. I don't advocate the use of dog or cat food in the diet with the exception of one brand. I purchase Wysong canned canine and feline products. These canned foods are meat, nothing but meat. They make chicken, turkey, duck, beef, rabbit, and venison varieties. The ingredient label for each reads one thing...for rabbit it's rabbit, for duck it's duck, etc. I use these once in a while to give the lizards a little variety.

Where can you purchase this Wysong food? I have never seen this brand in my area?
