Western Diamondback Tank

sebesto Dec 12, 2003 12:27 AM

This is my first post and I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I was going to get a new tank for my pair of western diamondbacks (both around 4 1/2 feet long), right now there in a tank I built. I wanted to get a new tank, kinda like a Christmas gift for my snakes, and myself. The tank I think I'm going to buy has 4 acrylic sides and an acrylic bottom, a 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch screen top, and a sliding showcase front. The demensions of the tank are 30in-high, 48in-long, and 36in-deep. If I put another screen over the top about an inch high, so they can strike and get a fang through it, do you think it would be a good tank for my snakes?

Thanks,
Sebesto

Plenty big enough overall and long enough to achieve a good thermal gradient if you set a basking light on the screen top at one end. Since the enclosure is front opening I don't really see any need for extra screen on top. It will just interfere with your light.
