This is a pic of my first leo, picked em up today...not sure of sex. What do ya's think?
My leo still won't lay in his hides yet...He has gone in the warm hide once (that I know of) and came back out. He lays behind the warm hide and relaxes there...Any suggestions or is this normal? Thanks
Mine hid under the fake plants for the first bit, and didn't really use her hides for a day or two. I wouldn't worry. He/She'll figure things out. If it keeps up, I suppose it could have a meaning. Like maybe she isn't comfortable in the hide if it's too big/small/open/etc. Or maybe it's too hot in there, or something like that. But I wouldn't worry about that kind of stuff yet. He/She will figure it out in time.
The cute thing with mine was that she kind of half hid behind the fake plants. She was comfortable as long as she had one little, tiny leaf between her and me on her first day. I could totally see her, and she wasn't doing a very good hiding job, but for some reason, that was comfortable to her.
Good luck.
PS. nice lookin' leo. How old is it?

Congradulations! He is such a little sweety! You've definitly earned him, your one of the few people who will take alot of planning ahead before buying your leo. I'm really proud of you!
What's his name? And the hide thing-- I'd just give him a little time!
I have a leo that will only go into her humid hide when she sheds. So, no worries, just keep an eye on him for now. Alrighty, take care and have fun!

...I've noticed posts from you over the last little while, and it's nice to see someone do the research first.
I remember the day I started looking into leos and wandered down to the local pet store. The people there knew NOTHING and tried to talk me into a 10gallon kit with bark substrate, a heat rock, and freeze dried crickets along with one of their sickly leos...I can see how people who don't know any better can get suckered in.
Fortunately I had this little thing called 'common sense' that said "You don't know anything about these things. Don't be stupid!". A month an a half later after reading EVERY post in the leo forum and the recent leo archives I had a little juvi of my own.
Kind of makes you feel weird when you actually get the pet. It's almost like you've had one for a while with all the reading you've done. I kind of lived through the people on the forum and their pets up until then.
I'm done rambling...
Good luck with your new pet (kid).
