not eating

mistysprouse Dec 12, 2003 01:34 AM

I know this stuff comes up all the time, but I just thought I would gather some thoughts.

I got a rescue ball python she is about 2-3 and layed eggs in april. I got her at the begining of october, she had been taken from the owner for not feeding her. So they got her up to a better weight but still on the thin side. Well she ate 2 small rats (same feeding) maybe the second week of october, and then she ate 1 mouse (was offered 2) towards the beg. of november. I offer her food once a week, and I try giving her different stuff each week (not in the same feeding), small rats, mice, rat pups. she has been always offered live so I haven't tried frozen. Still nothing, just wondering if this might be because it is winter? I wish she would eat cause she can't afford to go into months of not eating. should I be worrying and calling the rescue place back yet?

she is the one around my neck in the PIC 2

It sounds like your doing right by offering food once a week. Definitely contact the rescue for advice. Make sure temps and humidity are good and that hides are available. Handle as little as possible.

trust me, she CAN go that long without eating. Try and feed a steady diet of large mouse or small rat....so she will get into a routine and not be a picky eater.
