Vision Cages, model #432

gravity Dec 12, 2003 02:48 PM

I have recently purchased two vision cages, model #432. I havn't purchases the light fixtures yet though. I would appreciate some advice on what light fixture and bulb type is good for the model #432, 54in x 36in x 18in. Any info would be great including where they can be purchased for a decent price and any other suggested features for the cages. Thanks Dale

I have several Vision 432's and 422's. They are great cages but they are alittle tough to heat especially if you have them in a non-heated garage like I do. I only use a 60 watt household bulb in the recessed compartment for simulated light cycle. To heat my cages I kind of came up with a homemade rig using the ESU Thermostats and 100 watt infrared bulbs mounted in cat carriers for the snakes protection and a great fire safety feature as well. Alot of people use Pro Heat Pannels or Flex watt...During the time my females are gravid I will throw in a household heating pad so they can have the belly heat required. Here is a pic of my set up.....good luck! Richard "amazoa"

Dale you choose a light fixture buy the ceramic based units. I think ZooMed and others sell them. I dont trust the cheap ones they sell at the discount stores that are plastic based. Those cheap ones have a switch that burns out and they can't handle to high wattage bulbs. The ceramic based ones have no switch and can handle up to 250 watts. Don't use a 250 watt in the pet carriers as it will melt them. Later Richard
