Slimy escaped last week...

korina Dec 12, 2003 03:09 PM

I know there aren't really any tricks to getting it to come back, its a metter of hide & seek at this point. But how long will it survive? Is he apt to head for the "rat room" because he can smell the mice & rats? He got out on Monday the 8th and we have seen no trace of him. Do you think he would go down a drain? A heat vent? This weekend we are starting a "search party" for him once again...we don't anticipate finding him though. I am just wondering if anyone thinks we will find him alive...
Thanks
Stephanie

A week without food is survivable for a corn snake.

Depending on his age and size, he could go down an air vent or drain easily. Check anyplace that generates heat, under fridges, stoves, water heaters, etc. Search his enclosure too, though I think by now, if he was till in there, you would have noticed (however, if you never looked in there since finding him gone, maybe he has been there all along. Had it happen to me twice with my corn, thought he escaped after searching his cage as throughoutly as I could, and finding him hours later, still in the cage).

Seems lately most people here who have lost snakes have found t hem coiled up in shoes, socks, or other items of clothing.

There are many places he could have gone - but we know he isn't in his cage. I look every day at least twice, hoping he will find his way back - not likely, but I can hope. We are just concerned he went down the floor drain in the laundry room. We have 600 sqft to go through with many, many heat sources. It will be a long day tomorrow "goin on a snake hunt..."
Thanks

hope it helps. You can probably find other helpful posts in the archives. Good luck!

Somehow, he made it back into his cage...I know he wasn't there before because I had cleaned it out after he went missing. Good thing I kept it open for him.
Thanks everyone.
