Shipping my dragon

RepGirl Dec 12, 2003 05:19 PM

I need to ship my dragon across the country. What is the best and quickest service to do this? (UPS next day air?) What is the estimated price for this service? And what supplies is necessary and where can I find supplies (heat pack, etc.) Thanks for your help!

here is a URL below for shipping boxes and heat packs, but you have to buy in quanity, not just for one beardie.

You might want to check around for local reptile shippers and see if they will sell you just one set up for shipping and a few heat packs.

Also, this is a bad time of year for shipping as you have to know not only the temps in your area and the area you are shipping too, but one that the carrier may use as a hub. Like Airborne uses Ohio, so even if I am sending from Florida in the 70's to New Mexico in the 70's. The animal has to transfer through Ohio in the 30's and thats usually at peak cold time in overnight shopping.

Airborne ships (some are having problems with certain locations in not accepting reptiles, but my local office deos accept them and tell me there is no problem.

UPS will ship lizards they tell me, but not some snakes or spiders. Some us Federal Express, but you need to call each carrier and see what they restrictions are.

Delta dash is probably the best, but very expensive
