Baby feeding Q's

Aesear Jun 02, 2003 11:16 PM

My two baby leos hatched recently (my first ever!) one on the 30th and her clutchmate on the 31st. The earlier of the two has already started showing an interest in food today and has demolished a pinhead cricket and two mealworms. I tried picking out the smallest mealies from the bunch I have and she seemed to eat them just fine. I had a few more pinheads and a couple more small mealies in the baby cage but I don't know whether they have been eaten or are just hiding. the point of this rather long winded intro though is that I'm wondering how much its safe to feed them per day. I've heard of babies whose eyes are too big for their stomach and who eat too much and then throw it back up. I would like to avoid this if possible but I also don't want to underfeed. so does anyone have suggestions about what/how much to feed little guys every day? I reeeally want to do things right. I'll also try to get pictures up of my little sweeties soon too. they're adorable.

Well, first of all it is recomendable that you wait until they shed for the first time before giving them food. Also, at the beginning i always throw aroung 5 or 6 so they dont go crazy. With the throwing up stuff, not evry baby does it, is just when they dont realize yet how much they can eat. You will be fine. Here is a pic of my brother's babies back home in Venezuela.
