sick Retic?

greg woodie Feb 08, 2003 11:42 PM

i was talking to a friend who works in a local pet store today about a small Retic they have. he says it has saliva bubbling from its mouth. he's worried that it might be mouth rot. are these snakes prone to this type of disease? i, myself, don't have any first-hand experience with exotic snakes(yet), so i didn't know what to tell him. could it be a respiratory infection? i told him i would check and see what i could find out to help him. has anybody out there had a similar experience? i appreciate any ideas and/or advice.

thanks!
greg

Sounds like a RI to me. Here is good link for some great information on what to do. I hope everything turns out ok with his 'tic.

Mine had one a while ago...it's quite possible that they are prone to RIs.

Although, if it's not, it could be that the snake has developed problems from the substrate. Sometimes the wood fibers get stuck in the mouth and nostrils, causing irritation.
