. . . as long as your ambient temps are in the 70's, even 60's you're good to go. Most herp rooms are hotter, so it's not so extreme.

Think of night drops as allowing the animals metabolic engine to slow down - when you leave the UTH hot all the time - you are running your leo's system wide open.

I think it's extremely good to have a night drop. I know there's a lot of debate - but most herpers who are in the "business" and not just hobby people, do a night drop. I think I'll go with them on this one . . .

I manage a night drop by having my lights on timers. My UTHs are on all the time, but the temp drops because the lights go off. Plus, most of mine spend most of their time in those repticaves that stick to the side of the tank, so they're not laying on the UTH very often.

Monte do think that geckos will naturally thermoregulate as they should if they have a cool side, and cooler ambient temps at night? In terms of "running the metabolism on high", would that account for faster growth than leos with a night drop, cause slower growth, or make no difference?

What do you think the actual drawbacks might be to no night drop, in terms of effects?

What do you think the benefits are, in terms of actual effects?
