how come albinos cant stay with regs?

Melle Dec 12, 2003 06:59 PM

Fist off, congrats on your new leo

Three crickets is too little. Feed him as many as he will eat each night since he is still a juvenile. as he/she gets older, they will eat a lot less frequently, but when they are young you wanna make sure they are getting as much as they want to eat every day. This can easily be 8 or more crickets. Make sure your crickets are the right size, too (no bigger than the space between the geckos eyes.)

Ideally, yes the water should be changed every day, or whenever it gets messy.

And albinos can be kept with regulars. I dont know where you heard they couldnt Its not a problem.

Good luck!

a girl at petsmart told me that albinos could not be kept with regulars because they would fight. she said thats why they were kept seperate in the store

I bet the albino that they had was a male. Two males will fight if kept together. I've never heard of albinos not being able to stay together though.

Albinos and regulars are the exact same species. Just different color and genes basically. They can be kept together. Ive kept my albino in with my normals for years. The girl at the store has no idea what shes talking about. So yes, if you wanted to get an albino to put with your normal sometime down the line, it would be fine as long as they are both female, or you have a male with at least 2 females because yes, two males will fight if kept together.

Why a male with 2 females? Would 1 male and 1 female not be OK together?

Melle Dec 14, 2003 05:05 PM

Becuase a male might stress out the one female with always wanting to mate with her. if there are two or more, it takes the stress off of the one female. but dont put em together at all if you arent prepared for eggs!
