New Leopard Gecko not eating?

bluetubeodyssey Dec 13, 2003 02:52 AM

I'm new to Leopard Geckos, though not to herps in general. (I have a bearded dragon and two Austrailian White's tree frogs already) I brought a female home on Tuesday (12/9) from the petstore into a pre-setup tank. She is quite beautiful and very friendly, not quite full-grown, though almost there. I have some mealworms for her in a dish in her tank, but she hasn't touched them at all. Now I'm not sure how often an adult Leo will eat, though I know juvies will eat everyday, and my adult bearded dragon eats a ton everyday, so I'm worried by her seeming lack of appetite. Just in case, I gave her a mouthful of hydro-life today.
How often do your adult Leos eat, and if she should have already eaten her mealies, do you have any suggestions as to how I can stimulate her appetite?
Thanks!

It's pretty common for leos to not start eating right away after you first bring them home. It still wouldn't hurt to double check that the temperatures are optimal, since that'll play a major role in stimulating her appetite. It's also possible that she doesn't know that the mealworms are there.
