WHEN A BEARDIE IS BRUMATING SHOULD IT BE RECIEVING FOOD------read on------>>>>>>

Okay, my three year old beardy is definetly brumating but should I continue to offer him food?? He ate 2 crickets today and a few veggies.

After he came out of hiding I felt his skin and he felt fairly cold...should I continue to feed him, and how long do your beardy's brumate for??? I've read it can take up to 5 months...

We've bred this guy before as well as the other beardies we have but this is the first brumation period we've ever experianced...just wondering the proper way to do things...

thanks...any suggestions would be appreciated...

If he's eating then you can offer him food. BUT, only leave the crickets in there until he's done eating. Crickets can take a nibble on your dragon while he's sleeping. You can keep giving him veggies or pellets "free choice". He may not eat, but if he does it won't hurt!

Oh, and brumation is a odd thing... it can last a month or it could last 5 or 6! I would pick up a scale at your local office store and keep a weight record of your BD. Make sure he doesn't loose too much weight.

Happy Holidays!
