Ridding the algae

dmbfan Dec 13, 2003 08:19 AM

I know there are many posts in the past on how to get rid of algae, but I still have been unable to locate a solution besides constant cleaning, which still does not cease the growth.

Is there something to put in the water that will not harm my turtle? My father has a pond and states that he put some drops of some sort of solution in his pond and it got rid of the algae but didn't harm the fish. Any ideas if this works for turtle tanks as well?

Yes - Pond plants. They are the natural solution. Water hyacinth is good. Your turtle can eat it plus it multiplies rapidly. Place a few water plants in your tank - any type of water plant will work. Try it!
