Some early morning photos

CE Dec 13, 2003 09:57 AM

Took these this morning using a Zoomed full spectrum buld for lighting , it works great for the animals in the rack and the animals in white cages. I was forced to use the flash on Hera because the yellow color of the neodeshas made the entire photo yellow ... if you have white cages a full spectrum bulb will dop the job... avoid the flash at all costs.

Nice tip about the full spectrum bulb. Certainly something I will have to play with. I've been into macro photography for many years and getting lots of good light for a long exposure and added depth of field is always a problem. I believe that you have previously posted that you use a Nikon 3000 series camera. I use a coolpix 995, dumped all my pentax 35mm equipment to get the nikon. For my money, you can't beat the metering system or the nikon lenses. Have you ever tried using the custom white point setting or one of the pre-defined white points? What about a gray card? I've used one to check exposure and then brought the image into photoshop to measure it. It makes it really easy to balance the image and eliminate a color shift due to the light source.
