Tamatave Panther

rob5001 Jun 03, 2003 12:11 AM

Her is my panther. I have had him for about three months. His colors are fabulous. Lots of red at night. My next post will incluse a picture of my female. She is about 6-7 months. My question is when would be a good time to introduce them for mating?

Hi-

If you are going to breed them, wait until they are 12 months old. Can you post a pic of the male fired up?

Thanks For Sharing The Pics!

Hi Rob,

Nice looking panther! How old is the male?
There are not a lot of tamatave breeders around, could you email us offlist and share your source? We always like to incorporate new bloodlines into our colony.

We posted a picture of one of our Tamatave male breeders... he is in normal coloration - every day colors. When he fires up- you see lots of hot oranges and tomato red. They are a great morph of panther.

Hope you enjoy them... bu wait for the female to be approx 1yr old before breeding. She will have a longer life that way, and her bones will be more stable. Egg development can rob the bones of calcium. The males can begin breeding at a much younger age. If you have an older, retired panther female (non-egg-laying), you can always employ her for his initiation. We often do this because young females are so fiesty.

Good luck with them,
