quick question, need help please

ifni Jun 03, 2003 12:11 AM

I tried asking this on the Ball Python forum, but haven't gotten an experienced answer yet, so I thought I'd see if anyone here knew....

We're getting a Ball Python soon, and after the quarantine period is over, we were planning on putting him in the same room as our two leopard geckos. They'll be about 10-15' apart and they won't be able to see each other, but I'm worried that the BP will be able to smell the leos and it'll drive him nuts. Anyone here have any experience keeping both leos and BPs?

thanks,
-Ifni

i dont think it should cause a problem. i havent kept bp's, but cornsnakes never seemed to care about the geckos.

don't care about my leos at all and they're in a cage maybe a foot away from my laying females. My oldest female leo however...she's intrigued by the snakes and gets as close as she can to watch them when they're up and about at the same time. I don't think she understands what the big legless leos are...lol

I told my husband last night that I was concerned about this, and had posted the question, and fortunately it was looking like it wasn't going to be a problem to keep the Ball and the Leos together.
He was silent for a moment, probably giving me time to catch my error, but being the hopeless airhead that I am, of course I didn't. While I sat there so proud of myself for how throroughly I'd been researching everything, he said: "Honey, do you happen to remember *where* we are getting the snake from?"
"The pet store," I chirped, thinking absolutely nothing of it until about half a second later when my face froze in horror as realization hit me like a cinderblock to the back of the head, thinking back to our recent visit to the pet store, and how the BP's cage was surrounded by the cages of other reptiles, including, of course, the leopard geckos.

Well, I've learned my lesson. Take all my questions to the guy who has retained at least a little common sense (not to mention sanity), before bringing them here and making a fool of myself. At least he didn't razz on me *too* hard for my silly mistake, hehe.
