Problems with heat and humidity...please help

tommya98 Dec 13, 2003 11:06 AM

I have a 30l x 20w x 24h all glass cage with two fron doors and the top 1/4 of each side is screen. I am using a radiant heat panel recommended by pro-products for my set up but now that it is winter, i am having trouble keeping the heat and humidity to the levels that it is supposed to be at. The hot spot will not get about 87 F but the cool side is staying around 75 F. My GTP is staying directly under the heat panel all the time now. At night, my thermostat is useless and the hot spot gets down around 75 or less. Are there any kind of suggestions anyone could offer to help maybe seal the vents or what not. I need it to be a temporary solution or a removable solution. I dont want to silicone glass or anything on there that wouldnt be easily removed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could try plastic wrap over the screen....Ceram(sp?) wrap type stuff...I actually have one animal still in an aquarium (I dont like aquariums), it is a green anaconda; which obviously needs high humidity. I wrapped the entire screen lid with plastic wrap, if its air you are worried about, it gets in even if it doesnt appear to be. With such little air flow, however, you need to be careful about stagnant water, or mold.

My GTPs.....I keep them all in rubbermaids which hold humidity very well.

Hope I could help

Chris
