does anyone here use Vision cages for their Tegus? I was thinking about getting one for mine but wanted to know if it was a good idea or not. i don't know how well they hold humidity or anything like that so any information would be helpful.

My tegu is a wonderful animal but is a terror when I'm not around. He is almost a year and a half old. He is 4 feet long and at last weight was 9 pounds. He has gotten out of every cage I put him into. I got a Neodesha cage and he tore through one of the screen vents. No I just leave it open let him roam in the dining room all day.
I often let him out when I'm home. I soak him in the tub so he'll deficate. Once "unloaded" I let him out to strech his legs. When I'm not home he "goes" on the floor and occasioanlly tears into the house plants.
I am considering a Vison cage as a last resort to contain him. They are VERY expensive but I have some extra money coming to me. I'll be following this thread to see what people say.
Thank you,
Brian
I was going to get one as well. There are only 2 Vision models that come in the 6ft or greater length however. One of which the 632, is 72创 W x 36创 D x 18创 H which is definitely not tall enough to hold your tegu, considering it needs atleast 8-10 inches of substrate. The other model the 734, 80创 W x 28创 D x 44创 H , it looks amazing but it's around $800 and hard to maneuver. The biggest problem though is that these cages aren't made to hold substrate. Everytime you slide open that glass...there will be problems. So unless you can invent some kind of create lip to work with the cage to hold the substrate in, I don't think it's a good choice. Get a feed trough like I have. Best thing available, IMO. Mine's 6 x 2 x 2 cost me $100, takes a beating since its all metal and lightweight, and best of all, is completely opaque so my tegu can't see out the sides at all. I think it's taken a great deal of stress off her. She doesn't even try and escape anymore, since she's not really aware of any "outside". Here's pics of mine.

Got any questions just ask me. Oh and you can't see it but I built a lid for it too...really easy, I can take more pics too if you want. Let me know.

First off, that's a fantastic looking set-up you have. I was worried about the substrate issue, I seem to be running into that problem a lot as I'm trying to find something that opens from the front for two reasons. One is that my tegu is still young and is afraid of my hand reaching in from the top of his tank so i wanted to make it easier for him. Second, my room isn't that large and I wanted something that had a sturdy flat top so I would be able to put some things on it, otherwise I'm loosing a large chunk of space. I'm quite perplexed as to how I can solve this issue.
Hello,
I use a cage that is made out of 1/2" HDPE. It is awesome. It only took 10 min to put it together. My Tegu loves it. I put a link at the bottom of the page.
